Zvi Sherf (head coach, Spartak):
Spartak won today the first game in Eurocup, also the first game in the season. I wanted everybody to understand that we beat here very good team, a team with a lot of weapons in offence, a team that have very extremely percentage of 3-points shoots. During 3 days after tough lost against “Enisey” in National Championships we prepared for offence of Ankara. I told my players that they had more 3-points shoots that 2-ponts shoots. And now I’m looking for statistics and see that I’m right. They have some players with incredible shooting percentage. We had some ups and downs during the game. But 25-26 minutes of the game were ok. We had some problems and we had to learn and to see how to do things better. Now it’s much easier to come to practice and work with players without this terrible continuation of loses.
Murat Ozier (head coach, Turk Telekom):
Congratulations to Spartak St.Petersburg. They won first game. I have a very good respect to coach Zvi Sherf. It was a great honor to play against him. We had to do two things in the beginning of the game. At first we have to control the temp of the game because Fields is very fast player, James White is very athletic player. But we hadn’t success, we had eleven turnovers. At second we tried to have on the court two point guards to organize our game better. But they were not fresh. In the last quarter we were 6 points ahead but we couldn’t save this situation. We tried to steal last ball but we couldn’t shoot also. This is unlucky situation for us. Now we think about our next game – the game with Charleroi.
