Evgeny Kisurin - the head coach of Spartak-2

He started his way in big basketball in Spartak, he became the champion of CIS tournament also here and finished player's career in Spartak. Evgeny Kisurin, the prizer of European and World championships returned to Spartak as the head coach of the youth team of Spartak.
- Evgeny, our congratulations with return to your home team. How did you appear here for the first time?
- I gratuated school in Novosibirsk, came in Leningrad, entered the University and started to play in the youth team of Spartak. It was in 1986. I played my first 2 seconds in the main team during Korac Cup in December. It was the match with Limoges in Yubileiny and Kondrashin sent me to the ground in the end of the game. At the beginning of 1987 we went to Tbilisy and beat the main team of Dinamo. It was sensational. So youth players helped Spartak to took bronze medals. During the USSR Cup in Kiev I played even in starting five. The half of the team was from the main team and the other - from Spartak-2. Then I started to play for Spartak.
- And you won with Spartak the CIS tournament in 1992.
- Yes. It's not said very much about this achievement. But we had 60 games and we became champions when 8 games were before the end. We beat CSKA with difference of 20-30 points, also we beat Dinamo where for example Sergey Bazarevich played.
- What feelings do you have now when you return to Spartak?
- It's always a pleasure to return. Certainly the club has changed very much since the times when I played. New people have come here. But I can say that Spartak didn't have such a good conditions as there are here now. I like the atmosphere in club.
- What aims do you have to achieve according to the desires of management?
- The aim of youth team is to prepare new players for main team. Now the main important thing is to organize the training process. We collect the team in the middle of August and we'll start to work. We'll see and compare the development of players during a year in the end of the season. May be somebody will be ready for the main team in the middle of the season.
- What you say about roster?
- We don't know now what championships we'll have. We don't know it's formula, participants, age limits. We hope that all these questions will be defined as soon as possible and then we'll be able to make roster and define the preparation for the season. Now we decide also about my assistants.
First of all we need to have the training base. We want players not to spend many hours in their way to the base. They have to live not far from it and have enough time to recover between trainings. The questing about training base and living conditions is very importatnt now. Players have to pay most of their attention to basketball. May be we'll train in the school in Vasilievsky island where the team team trains. One time per week may be we'll have trainings with the main team for giving a possibility to the head coach of the main team to see young players. Certainly we'll communicate with our junior team. May be we'll start our pre-season camps together. Also if a player of junior team will progress there are no reasons not to become a player of youth team.
- The main team now is in vacancies but the youth team trains.
- Yes. we prepare for Spartakiade which will be held in the beginning of August in Vyborg. We present Saint-Petersburg there. Now 7 players are in the team. Then some other players also will be. We started a camp in Priozersk this week and it will be up to the beginning of Spartakiade. The team will have a week rest after the tournament and then we'll start to prepare for new season.

He played for Lokomotiv Novosibirsk, Spartak SPb, Udine, NCAA Virginia Tek, CSKA, Cibona, Varese, Anvil, Olympique. Finished player's career in 2005.
3-times Russian champion, 2-times Croatian champion, winner of USSR Cup, winner of CIS championships, two-times World silver medallist, European bronze medallist. Worked as the head coach of women team Spartak SPB and as the coach of women team Vologda-Chevakata.
