Russia took the 8th place in the U18 European championships. In the game for 5-6th place the team lost to Lithuania – 77:84. And Russia lost France in the game for the 7th place – 51:89.
Russia – Lithuania. Turning Point: Russia's role players tied up the game with three minutes remaining, but two botched free throws from Alexander Gavrilov that would have given them the lead enabled Ricardas Verbickas to put Lithuania in front for good with a driving basket plus the foul.
Game Hero: 17 points from Zydrunas Jurgutis and a three-point basket with 41 seconds remaining sealed the result for Lithuania.
Stats Don't Lie: Lithuania have routinely depended upon the three-point shot in this tournament, but scored 38 points in the paint to survive in a game where the outside shots were not falling.

France opted to go to a zone defence early and Viacheslav Fedorchenko was more than happy to use his speed to break it down, scoring seven quick points and creating a number of other open looks as the defence collapsed on his constant penetration and Russia went up early.
But when Paul Rigot hit double-figures four minutes into the second with a three from the right wing before nine Damien Inglis points in slightly more than a minute gave France their first lead in over 10 minutes of game time.
A wild attempt from Etienne Ory drew three free-throws on the halftime buzzer, pushing the French lead into double-figures.
